Interlex Medical Director, Thomas Schlenker, M.D., M.P.H., leads the ILX Health Strategies Group work in research, product and program development and strategic planning. Dr. Schlenker is a seasoned clinical pediatrician and former director of local health departments in San Antonio, Texas, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Salt Lake City, Utah. His research has resulted in over 30 publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from measles epidemics, childhood lead poisoning, infant mortality, vaccinations and health care financing.  Dr. Schlenker also has extensive experience working as a physician in Latin America and speaks Spanish well.  Most recently, as director of San Antonio Metro Health, he led a multiyear initiative that resulted in a measurable decline in local obesity rates.  Dr. Schlenker is the founder of the San Antonio Diabetes Collaborative.
